Earlier this year, with the passing of civil rights icon and United States Congressman John Lewis, we were reminded of the tremendous sacrifices that heroic Americans have made to ensure that all of us enjoy the right to cast votes in free and fair elections. Yet every election, voter turnout is lower than it should be and notoriously low among our youngest voters, who have so much at stake.
In an effort to ensure that everyone at our University is aware of key election information, including deadlines and locations, we are pleased to announce the launch of MocsGoVote:
Whether you are a student, faculty, or staff, please visit the new site and familiarize yourself with the content. Verify that you are registered to vote. Make plans to cast a ballot for the candidates of your preference.
Your engagement is key to the sustainability of our democracy. The deadline to register to vote in the November election is Monday, October 5, 2020. Voting is a privilege, and it is a duty. It is relatively quick and easy, but you must be registered first.
Go Mocs… and Go Vote!
