A History-Making Private Gift

The extraordinary people of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga are the reason for our success and, because you are among UTC’s family of extraordinary people, I wanted to share news with you of a history-making private gift that is going to be a game changer for our University.

A $40 million gift is being made to the University’s College of Business by Gary W. Rollins and Kathleen Rollins of Atlanta and, to honor this unprecedented generosity, moments ago the UT Board of Trustees approved our plans to name the UTC College of Business the Gary W. Rollins College of Business.

This landmark gift is the largest in our history and it marks the first time a college at UTC will be named for a donor.

Gary Rollins graduated from UTC in 1967 with a degree in business. He is CEO of Rollins Inc., a corporation with numerous holdings including the national pest control giant Orkin. His gift will be used to fund expanded scholarship offerings, three endowed faculty chairs, state-of-the-art facilities and applied research opportunities for students.

The press release at utc.edu/gift is being distributed shortly, but I wanted to share it with you in advance.

Gary Rollins and his wife, Kathleen, clearly believe in and care deeply about our University, and we are extremely grateful to them. I am also grateful to you for all you do for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
