Do you feel like this semester is rushing by as quickly as it seems to me? January has come and gone and we are into February. I cannot believe we are already thinking about midterms.
For much of the campus, hardhats are becoming standard issue. We have capital construction projects ranging from large new construction—such as our West Campus Housing—to renovation of the Tennessee Room in the University Center. Many of you have asked about various projects, especially plans for the renovation of Lupton Hall. Our office recently completed a comprehensive presentation that outlines all of the projects that are underway as well as those on the books for the near future. I invite you learn more about the many projects shaping the physical environment on our campus.
As you know, February is Black History Month and a month-long calendar of events is already underway. I encourage you to take time to participate in these activities, many of which are planned and implemented by our students. View the entire list of Black History Month events.
Our Mocs athletes continue to represent the campus well. The SoCon Fall Academic Team featured 33 of our student athletes. Basketball is in full swing and our Women’s Tennis team is off to a strong start. Our Mocs athletes are great ambassadors for UTC, both on and off the fields. I encourage you to support the teams. Go Mocs!
