Finals begin next week and commencement is right behind. Where has the year gone?
Commencement is a truly special time for our campus. Please try to attend one of the commencement ceremonies. The graduate student ceremony is at 2:00pm Friday, May 5th. The Colleges of Arts & Sciences and Engineering & Computer Science ceremony is at 9:00am Saturday, May 6th. The Colleges of Business and Health, Education and Professional Studies commencement is at 1:00pm on May 6th.
The annual Faculty Awards Dinner on April 11th brought well-deserved recognition to several of our outstanding faculty members. Their dedication and service to UTC is inspiring and a reminder that each of us makes a huge difference in the lives of our students. See the list of honorees.
Under the guidance of local attorneys Mike Giglio and Erica Hyde, the UTC Mock Trial team is headed to Los Angeles this week on its first-ever trip to the National Championships for the American Mock Trial Association. A total of 48 teams are set to compete. Since last fall, the nine members of our team have earned top honors at several competitions, earning them a spot in the championship.
Each year, ReSEARCH Dialogues is a chance for our undergraduate and graduate students and faculty to showcase their scholarly and creative accomplishments. This year, the event featured over 300 presenters and three competitions for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. Ten winners were crowned in the fast-paced presentations.
Honors College student Douglas White received an Honorable Mention from the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, one of the most prestigious programs in the United States for sophomores and juniors pursuing careers in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering. Douglas is a junior double majoring in Mathematical Sciences and Physics.
