Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. Finals are over and we had a wonderful commencement this past Friday and Saturday; over 830 students received their graduate and undergraduate degrees. Congratulations to our new alumni. We are proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to what you will do in the future. Classes resume Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.
In our continuing effort to provide market-competitive compensation for faculty and staff, we have set aside a dedicated pool of funds to be used for market/equity adjustments. It is important to remember that market/equity adjustments are based on job positions and reflect an analysis of salaries matched to similar positions in the marketplace and are not based on job performance by individuals. These adjustments will be included in December 2017 paychecks for impacted employees. For more information, please visit the campus HR website or contact Laure Pou, Executive Director of Human Resources.
Diversity and inclusion are two of our strategic goals at UTC and nowhere do those come together better than the recent Dear World event on campus. For two days, students and faculty from across the university told their personal stories of strength, bravery, understanding and experience. Each wrote a specific thought or phrase on their body that encapsulated their story and afterwards their portrait was taken. A photo gallery of UTC’s Dear World participants can be viewed at http://bit.ly/2k841WV. You can learn more about the Dear World project at http://bit.ly/2AkdUqR.
Have a wonderful holiday. I look forward to seeing you next year!
