Congratulations to Valerie Rutledge, dean of the UTC College of Health, Education and Professional Studies, who has been chosen as the recipient of the 2019 UT President’s Award in Diversity. The UT President’s Award is a huge honor given to the most outstanding members of the entire UT System. Diversity and inclusion are part of our UTC Strategic Plan, and Valerie embodies the very best in achieving that goal.
The Blue & Gold Memorial is set for Monday, March 25, and gives us a chance to honor the memory of and say a final farewell to members of our UTC family who passed away in 2018. The names of students, staff, faculty and alumni will be read in a ceremony that symbolizes that, though they are no longer here, they will always be a Moc. We mourn the loss of loved ones, but we can soothe our pain by joining with others to remember and reflect. The memorial takes place at 6:00 p.m. in Patten Chapel, and I encourage you to attend.
I Love UTC Week starts Monday, March 25, and is a chance to celebrate our UTC family. The week is filled with activities and finishes with Fan Fest on Saturday, March 30, at Finley Stadium. The event starts at 10:00 a.m., with a showcase for our Mocs football team at 1:00 p.m. There also is a wing-cooking contest, a kid’s football clinic and much more.
Our men’s and women’s basketball teams scored major victories in the end-of-season Southern Conference awards. Eboni Williams and Kevin Easley were chosen as the conference’s freshmen of the year. Kevin is the first Moc to win the award. Congratulations to both of them.
