Chancellor’s Update

Spring weather is finally here at UTC! I am putting my snow shovel away.

The Budget Town Hall meeting is taking place tomorrow, Friday, March 20th, from 10-11:30 a.m. in the University Center Auditorium. I encourage you to attend. There will be an overview of the budget reallocation process and the recommendations from UPRAC, and ample time for questions and comments. If you cannot attend the meeting, it will be livestreamed and recorded for later viewing. Please use the following link to view the presentation: https://mediaonline.utc.edu/UTC5/Play/252f3e99b86c4ce0a7e945e2fecc902c1d. I expect to receive budget reallocation recommendations from UPRAC next week. All recommendations will then be reviewed by UTC’s Executive Team. Final announcements about the budget process will be made the week of April 6th.

There will also be a Town Hall meeting next Tuesday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the University Center’s auditorium to review the results of the 2014 Employee Engagement Survey. Please attend to hear a presentation from the University of Tennessee system’s Compensation Advisory Board and an overview of the survey results from our survey vendor, ModernThink.

UTC’s women’s basketball defeated the East Tennessee State University Buccaneers on Sunday, March 8th, to become the Southern Conference tournament champions for the third year in a row! UTC is currently ranked 17th in the AP Top 25 poll and 18th in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. Our team will play the University of Pittsburgh in the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament this Saturday, March 21st in Knoxville.

UTC Wrestling will compete in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Wrestlers Sean Boyle, Nick Soto, Shawn Greevy, Sean Mappes, Jared Johnson, Scottie Boykin and Michael Pongracz will all wrestle in St. Louis, Missouri starting today. Go Mocs!
