As we reach the end of August, we are approaching the 30-day juncture of our IT consulting relationship with Ellucian. You’ll recall that earlier I announced UTC had entered into a partnership with Ellucian, a higher education technology consulting and development company, to work collaboratively with our IT Department to align and structure our services to meet the needs of our growing university.
An Ellucian transition leadership team has been working with UTC leadership and members of our IT staff to assess our current operation and develop a plan for the future. Here is an update:
- We have identified several key IT leadership positions to be filled. These positions will be filled through the standard apply-and-interview-process. Candidates can include current UTC or Ellucian employees plus qualified outside candidates. The plan is to have these positions posted for applications next week.
- In mid-September, we will extend access to Help Desk assistance to 24/7/365 availability.
- We are undertaking a Banner revitalization initiative, utilizing experts to maximize this important system.
- We have begun conversations on the development of an IT strategic plan that will determine IT needs for the next five years. We are looking at the establishment of an IT governance model which will include a comprehensive IT communications plan.
I appreciate the hard work and commitment of our IT staff and their cooperation with Ellucian. All are working to improve communication with the campus regarding IT updates and maintenance while supporting these bigger initiatives.
Please watch for further updates as we work to position our IT resources for a bright future.
