CRER director and chief economist Howard Wall was interviewed for a story on Local3News about the continuing Federal government shutdown:
“You hear about and you talk to people who run nonprofits that provide meals or rent assistance, things like that. And once like, the chain of payment from the federal government through nonprofits to families who have to pay rent, then you know, the people who are receiving that that assistance usually don’t have credit cards or, you know, family funds to go back,”
“I can even say my, my own family, my son-in-law, is in the military, and he was able to get paid on the 15th,” said Wall. “…but, you know, I don’t think that will happen a second time. And an awful lot of even, like the military, you know, they, they’re living paycheck to paycheck, they’re young and so on.”
