New data shows the area has been losing jobs, not gaining them.
A report from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Center for Regional Economic Research (CRER) says federal estimates were revised downward by about 3,300 jobs for December 2025.
That revision changes the trend.
Instead of adding about 1,100 jobs over roughly a year and a half, the Chattanooga area is now estimated to have lost about 1,900 jobs over that same time.
