Dr. Tommie F. Brown, a celebrated civil rights trailblazer, former Tennessee state representative and longtime UTC professor, has died at 91. Brown joined the UTC faculty in 1971, founded its Social Work program and became the first Black woman to lead an academic department. She served seven terms in the Tennessee House, championing education, health, voting rights and equity, and mentored generations of students and community leaders in Chattanooga.>>>Read More>>>
