UTC’s Biomechatronic and Assistive Technology Lab created a custom, bright-pink mobility chair for Amelia Aiken, a 2-year-old with cerebral palsy. Built by mechatronics student Austin McDade using open-source designs and 3D printing, the chair was tailored to Amelia’s size and needs. After immediately learning to propel herself, Amelia gained greater independence ahead of preschool.
