Aruba, the manufacturer of the happy new wireless network we’ve been enjoying for a few months now (No setup! Just Login!) has requested that their equipment be returned since it was technically “on loan” for the university to evaluate.
This means there WILL BE A CHANGE TODAY in the way that students log on to the wireless network using personal laptops.
- The student will select the Network “UTCWireless”, which will allow him/her to login as before. Here’s the weirdness:
- If they are using Internet Explorer, after they login, they will have to close IE, and re-open it to actively be able to browse the Internet.
- If they are using Firefox, they can simply type in a new URL and proceed.
Yes, this is horrible. Yes, ITD knows this. I hope it will be changed VERY soon. I will stay on top of this and update when news is available.
Jason, thanks for this heads up. I just helped someone connect and yes, it’s horrible, yes,. it’s weird, but at least it worked! – Va.
The Bright Side: Not Back to Configuring the Windows Wireless Manager. 🙂
