The problem with LexisNexis appears to be an isolated incident. I am investigating with LN whether they have a timeout due to inactivity and, if so, the length of the timeout and if it can be reset. Regarding the availability of the results page after the session expiration notification, this may have been due to caching of the page by the browser, since it doesn’t appear that the browser was closed and re-opened.
This is an email I sent to Chris tonight around 10pm. I’m sure she’ll get to it as soon as she can. “A student was using her laptop in the library to access Lexis Nexis. She said she used it for around 30 minutes, then it said her session had expired. We tried going all the way back out to Articles and Databases to start over, but it still didn’t work. She could get as far as her results list on LN, but when she tried to click on an actual article, that’s when the error message appeared. It worked find on the Reference computer. I showed her other newspaper databases and suggested she use a public computer (her assignment was due tomorrow/today). I have no idea what would cause this. I thought it may have to do with the wireless, but if she can get all the way to the results list, that didn’t make sense to me.
