We were informed this afternoon that our public elevators will need a replacement part before they will function. The part has been ordered and the service man is hopeful that he will get the part and can complete the repair tomorrow. However, if the replacement part does not come or he has difficulty with the repair, our elevators may be out of service for a day or more.
We will keep the elevators blocked and signs posted. I am also putting signs on the entry doors to alert patrons before they enter the library. If you are on a public desk or working in the stacks on any floor, please watch for patrons who might need assistance. Patrons do get confused and often need us to point the way to the stairs (especially on 2nd floor).
With luck the repair can be done tomorrow so we don’t have to go into the weekend without elevators.
