A few students today have come into the library with flash drives because they have been told by their instructor that we will give them a free copy of SPSS. We do have “free” access to SPSS for faculty and students, but students will need to go to the ITD website and download it from the UT Office of IT. I have included the steps below:
1. Go to itd.utc.edu.
2. Click on Software on the left sidebar.
3. Choose the third option, Download SPSS – free to students.
4. Log in with UTC ID and password.
5. Choose Office or Home Use.
6. Scroll down and click the radio button for the correct version of SPSS (Mac and Windows versions are both available).
7. Click Download Selected Item.
8. Click the link to begin the download.
AND THEN….
They will also need to download the SPSS 18 (PASW) Installation Instructions in order to get the license key. That is another option on the UT OIT page. Stephen recommends that folks download either SPSS 18 (PASW) for Windows 64-bit or SPSS 18 (PASW) for Windows 32-bit, or the SPSS 18 (PASW) for Macintosh for Macs, along with the Installation Instructions.
