One of the things that has come to light since ITD started monitoring login failures on the computers here in the library is that the vast majority of failures over the weekend were from students simply failing to understand what they needed to use to login. Some of the failures include:
- Trying to login using a generic account from the UC Lab
- Trying to login using their name
- Getting their UTC ID wrong (for instance, many people tried to login using something like 1abc23)
- and the BIG ONE: Not understanding that passwords are case-sensitive.
If you are helping a student attempt to login to the computer, you may just try making sure they know UTCID and Password, and that their pwd is case sensitive.
