We’ll be visiting our first USTU class today to introduce the iPod tour/zombie game, so we may start seeing students as early as this afternoon. As a reminder of what we’re up to, students are doing the following:
1. Checking out an iPod at Circ (or viewing on their own device via UTC Library YouTube channel)
2. Taking a walking tour of the library
3. Playing our video game on one of the wing PCs behind the reference desk (Nightmare on Vine St / Xbox controller icon on the desktop)
Folks on the ref desk may need to help students figure out how to open the game. Students just need to double-click the Nightmare on Vine St icon — we’ve noticed that the program may generate an error if it’s dozen-clicked, or tried to open too many times. PC volume is located in the lower-right corner of the desktop and should be un-muted so students can plug in their headphones and hear the game.
After students have completed the game, we ask if they have any questions about the library and give them a certificate that they take to class to receive credit for this activity. I will try to keep a stack of certificates at the desk, but they are located here if you need to print some on the quick: S:LibraryUSTU iPod ToursFall 2012 – “completion certificate.”
Thanks for your help — have fun!
