Some fun stuff happening for finals this year:
Cartoons & Chill
Reading Day – Tuesday December 1
Room 101 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm
We’re partnering with the Campus Activities Board (CAB) this year, so we’ll have some financial help. Cartoons will be shown throughout this relaxing event where students can drop in for a bite and watch a short cartoon on their study-break. We’ll have Pop Tarts, Rice Krispie Treats, Granola Bars, Coffee – no cereal this year as the Pop Tarts are the clear favorite of students. BONUS: There will be draws every 30 minutes throughout the event with bean bag chairs as prizes, courtesy of CAB!
Therapy Dogs
Thursday December 3, Library 1st floor
10:30 – 11:30am we’ll have 2 dogs (Shelby the Great Pyrenees, and a dog that’s brand-new to HABIT, Abby (see photo on right).
5:30 – 6:30pm we’ll have 1 dog (Penny, the Doodle)
Buttons
We’ve pressed 250 buttons that are finals-themed. These will be distributed at the Commons and CheckOut desks starting on Monday November 30.
SGA Study Marathon
SGA will host study marathons on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 10pm – 1am. They will arrive at 8:30pm each night to setup and will take down and re-set the area each night when they finish. They have many student volunteers helping so hopefully this will not create any extra work for us – they’ll arrange furniture, setup the popcorn machine, move tables, etc. Aramark will be providing some of the food, and should arrive between 7:30 – 8:30 each night. Aramark and SGA will use the 1st floor workroom to store materials as needed throughout the 3-days. They will be hosting the event in the 1st floor alcove (where we do the dogs) and have arranged for extra volunteers to be on hand for crowd-control so that it’s not too disruptive (Fingers-crossed!). They’ll be giving out t-shirts the first night, and potentially the second night if they have any left, so expect the most excitement around those based on past t-shirt nights.
Also, the first floor will remain open throughout finals week so that students have extra study space overnight.
This is going to be a great finals week!
