There have been a few reports over the last week of patrons receiving a printer connection error when printing in the commons. We use group policy to assign the default printer and if folks are too quick on the draw (print) they may catch the computer while in the process of “installing” the default printer. We’ve tested several times and if you log in, load word and immediately attempt to print you SOMETIMES see a “connecting to printer” message on the print screen. After about 10-15 seconds that resolves and it changes to “Ready”. So if you have any patrons with this issue, have them close out of the print screen and re-try and wait those few extra seconds for it to connect. If it continues to be an issues we can look at changes for the summer imaging.
