Welp – as I’m sure everyone saw, the campus has now decided to close on Monday August 21st. So we won’t be having a campus watch party or doing eclipse-related buttons. I believe the glasses and moon pies will be given out at the Oak Street Roast on Sunday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Chamberlain Field (first-come, first-served).
The Library outreach committee is still planning to put eclipse-related materials on display; those will go up this week in advance of the eclipse.
Enjoy the #EclipseDay!
OLD POST:
The campus is planning a watch party for the eclipse on Monday Aug 21 from 2-3pm on Chamerlain field. Please plan to attend and share the word with any users asking what the campus is doing. Some related info:
- Campus has purchased 3,000 glasses to give out as advertisement for the event and then at the event itself
- University Relations will push out messaging about the event both on campus and in the community
- Campus will give away MoonPies at the event
Also, the Library Outreach committee will do a book display (starting on the 19th) with eclipse-related materials. We’ll also post some information in the Roth Grand Reading Room for those folks trying to view it from there. And we’ll be making a small number of keepsake buttons to give away – we’ll bring those outside to give away during the campus watch party.
If I hear anything else about campus events for the eclipse, I’ll update this post!
