Short list of common issues, user errors and other items of note for printing:
-Students are reporting that their print jobs are not showing up at the printer after they’ve swiped (even students who have pre-registered their MocsCard) and are asking to print at the desk. This has mostly been a case of user error, where the patron has attempted to print from a computer that was already logged in under another user. They must login to the desktop as themselves in order for a print job to show up on the printer when they attempt to swipe and print.
-Students with a new card who are printing for the first time will have to both swipe AND login with their ID and password in order to see an accurate account balance. They will only have to do so the first time, after that they can either swipe or manually enter their ID on the the print screen.
-If a user has been issued a temp login at the Commons desk and they also need to print, they will have to select the guest queue and enter their UTC ID at the computer monitor.
-Prints are on default to print double-sided (but will still be charged for both sides. Paper is saved, not money) patrons can choose to print on one side by editing the default in print options.
-Patrons can print, copy and scan at all library printers.
-Patrons cannot deselect duplex/double-sided printing on Macs, even if you submit 1 page per sheet, it will still print duplex. LibTech knows and is looking into it.
-If a patron’s print job doesn’t completely print and/or the screen shows an error message that says the paper size is wrong, please touch the Job Status button located in the lower left corner of the printer touch screen. You can select the standard 8.5 x 11 and it will resume the print.
