Please encourage students, staff and faculty to enjoy the cake and coffee, enter the prize draw, and to visit all of the different tables. This is a fun event where we’re able to tell our story and let people know about all of our programs, services, and materials – even our ‘regulars’ can learn something new.

FAQ
Where will the costume contest be?
We’ll host the costume contest inside along with the Open House. The weather report shows mid-to-high 50s for the 1-3pm timeframe, so it’ll be too chilly to be standing out there. We will post a sign outside Chamberlain inviting folks to come inside. The good news is that it’ll be nice for the costume participants to be able to get cake and coffee easily and for the other visitors to see all of the great costumes.
Is there a door prize draw?
Yes. We will collect entries for the door prize of a $50 Starbucks gift card. The entries will be entered into a spreadsheet this afternoon so that we can eliminate duplicate entries (to mitigate any box-stuffing) and then a winner will be drawn. Depending on the time it takes to enter the data, the draw will either take place this evening, or tomorrow morning. For sure a winner will be chosen no later than November 1st.
Can Library Student Workers enter the prize draw?
Yes.
Can Library Student Workers enter the Costume Contest?
Yes.
How does the Costume Contest work?
Entrants will take 2 photos each – 1 with a number and 1 without. The non-nuimbered photo will be posted to the Library’s Facebook page on November 1st. Each ‘Like’ that a photo gets will count as a vote. The photo with the most votes as of November 8th at 9:00am will be declared the winner and receive the $50 Starbucks gift card. We’ll use the numbered photo to match the person with the identifying information.
Will we tag people in the Facebook photos?
No. Entrants can choose to tag themselves, but we will not tag anyone with the identifying information they’ve provided – that will be kept confidential unless they choose to disclose it.
What will happen to the leftovers?
Decorations will be stored for use next year. If we have any leftover buttons, we’ll put them out at the Checkout Desk. Leftover candy will be used for workshops.
