As of today, the Collections is no longer quarantining physical materials. This means that returns to the Checkout Desk can be treated similar to pre-COVID! After you scan a return in Alma, here is where they go:
- All technology (calculators, laptops, cords, webcams, etc.) goes in the basket cart between the Center and Chamberlain stations.
- ILLs go in Al’s Cubby, directly behind the Chamberlain station. Note that we do not scan returned ILLs in Alma.
- Reserves* are sanitized and re-shelved. Sanitizing instructions and supplies are located next to the Workroom door.
- All other returned books go on the pre-sort shelving, located in 4 sections of shelving across the back wall of Checkout. Pre-sorting works basically the same way as pre-COVID.
Checkout shelving has been relabeled to reflect these changes.
*Reserves: this section has been condensed into a smaller footprint, so it will take a minute to get used to where things go.
