The left-hand printer has been showing a “Perform printer maintenance” message. It seems to still be working fine, but I sent an email to Troy and Phillip to let them know. Here is Troy’s response:
The “Perform printer maintenance” message is calculated based on the number of printed pages, date it was last changed, etc. That usually indicates that the fuser and/or rollers are due to be replaced. It is pretty much a warning, and if the fuser is still in decent condition, it will continue to print without a problem.
Ive contacted our printer tech to take a look at it, but asked them not to replace the fuser at this time, but to perform maintenance and clean it if possible. We have some brand new printers on order for the library, so we will be replacing the printers on the first floor as soon as finals are over. If it becomes unbearable, we will do what we have to do to keep the printer up to par.
