A patron was stuck on LBR2 for a few minutes before the door opened. I contacted Facilities at 10:51 on 03/10/2011 to alert them to the situation. They are contacting the contractor to check the elevator. It appears the timer is not working properly as the door is not opening until 2-5 minutes after arriving at the floor which makes the patron think they are stuck(which they are) and they in turn contact Security and then the door opens and the patron is able to leave.
Elevator tech was (is?) here and looked at both sides. LBR3 has apparently shut down totally, while LBR2 is working at the moment. He may be still downstairs working on them, but thought I’d post an update to our daily soap opera.
This is the elevator that was lurching slightly when I rode it this morning.
The service technician reports to me the elevator is back in service and should now be functioning properly although there is a possibility the problem will occur again because as old as the elevator is he cannot order relays for it-all he can do is clean and adjust what is there.
Two consecutive patrons claimed to have been stuck.
At the request of the campus police dispatcher, we have blocked off elevator 2 following the two problems reported. After a discussion with Theresa, it was decided to block elevator 2 open on 3rd floor so that elevator 3 can be called to the first floor when requested.
Steve came and “shut off” the elevator…but he didn’t indicate whether the barrier on 3rd floor should be removed.
