WMS Update Sunday Night (Circulation, Acquisitions, WC Local)

Hi Everyone,

It is time again for another quarterly update for WMS. There are some exciting changes coming with this particular update–some that we have been asking for for a long long long time! The update will take place in the wee hours of the morning (Sunday Night/Monday Morning.)

You can get detailed information about the update–including screenshots here. You will need your WMS Support Center login to access the documents. Paper copies are available at the circulation and reference desks as well.

Here is a synopsis of what is happening–I have added the release notes page numbers for your reference. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Katie or Andrea!

Acquisitions

1. Predicting Next Issue of a Serial Title

2. Saving orders manually

3. Editing fund information (after created and use fund name and code)

4. We can now reliably edit large orders

5. Items without publisher info can now be ordered

Circulation

1. Changes to the patron profile (pg. 7):

Multiple addresses and phone numbers display and edit
State and province list based on country selection
Add multiple staff and public notes to patron record
Toggles for manually blocking patron, fine exempt, collection exempt, and store checkout history
Manually block patron

3. Display bill details (pg. 10): payment history and notes for a specific bill can now be displayed from payment account screen—Click on “detail” under bill reason.

4. Retain transaction history for items and history (pg. 10-11)

Has to be activated by staff in service configuration (specify duration for how long we want to keep history.)
If activated will be retained for all patrons and titles.
Display patron transaction history on the “new history tab” on the patron account
You can also show transaction history on the “item” record as well.

5.Bill calculation honors open dates only (pg. 11) (will need to look into impacts on our notification vs. billing set up)

6. Possible to print individual hold slips from the pull list.

7. Patron/staff notes display on check out screen (pg. 13)

8. Create new patron is always available on patron result screen (pg. 13)

9. Overdue items identified on check out screen (pg. 13-14)

10. Link to patron record now on check in screen (pg. 14)

11. Patron barcode displays in hold queue (pg. 14)

12. Loan and hold policies can contain double quotes

13. New due date prints on due date receipt when item is successfully renewed.

14. Receipts print for problem titles (if an item contained a single letter you couldn’t print.)
