The next WMS Quarterly system update will be occurring August 18th. A few of us attended the pre-release session on Thursday. There do not seem to be any changes being made that will impact large functionalities. So, I don’t expect any disruptions in service. On the other hand, they are tinkering with WMS–so please be alert on Monday morning the 19th to any oddities you might uncover in the system. Report them to Colleen, Andrea, Jason, and myself ASAP.
Here are a few highlights of the update:
Item Management
-Add list of notices sent regarding an item to the statistics tab
-Item with component pieces: alert note
-Retain previous borrower information per item
Check out
-Modify due date
Check in
-Print return receipt
Holds
-Materials booking (schedule regular items from the collection)
Bills
-Support taxes for bills
Order
-Integration with WorldCat Cataloging Partners
Receive
-Import shelf ready items
-Serials: support combined issues
Manage License
-Phase 1 for supporting SUSHI/Counter stats
Reports
-Parameterized acquisitions, circulation, and record manager reports
Other
-Set operating hours per branch for assigning due dates and bills
The OCLC Team will be making sure all changes occurred, and will make sure everyone is trained on any new functionality that may impact the work you do, or the service provided to students.
