UTC Parents and Families,
The start of a new semester is always an exciting time, and we are glad to welcome both new and returning families to the UTC community. For those joining us for the first time, welcome to the Mocs family. For our returning families, we’re grateful to continue partnering with you as your students grow and thrive at UTC.
This fall, we encourage students to take advantage of the many ways to get involved on campus. Whether it’s attending programs, joining a student organization, or finding community through events, engagement outside the classroom plays an important role in a student’s overall success. MocSync is the best place for students to explore these opportunities and stay connected with what’s happening at UTC.
Alongside involvement, it’s also important for students to stay on track academically and personally. The start of the semester is the best time to establish strong study habits, manage their schedules, and build healthy routines around sleep, nutrition, and exercise. Developing these practices early can help reduce stress and set the foundation for a successful semester.
As always, the Parent and Family Association is here to support you throughout the year. Our goal is to provide helpful information, connect you with resources, and answer questions as they arise. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help you and your student navigate this semester with confidence. Contact us by email at utcparents@utc.edu or on Facebook or Instagram at @utcparents.

Mocs Express makes it easier than ever to get around UTC and beyond

Greetings from Janice Cosey, Bursar
The Fall 2025 semester began on Monday, August 18, 2025. This is an exciting time at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with over 12,000 students enrolled. Overall, the fee payment process was successful although some students were cancelled due to non-payment. The Bursar Office provided several messages/notices to notify students of the cancellation date.
It is important that you encourage your son or daughter to check their email on a regular basis. The first fall 2025 refunds were processed on August 27. Hopefully, the ACH method was utilized for the refund. ACH/Direct Deposit is a secure option and the quickest method to receive a refund, if applicable. We continue to encourage students to set up the option via MyMocsNet account. Paper checks are mailed to the permanent address on file, which can take 5-10+ days via USPS.
If the Tuition Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) was utilized for the Fall Semester, the next payment is due September 1. A late fee of $50 is applied on the 4th of the month if the scheduled payment is not received.
If you have general questions, please contact our office at 423.425.4781 or email us at Bursars-Office@utc.edu. The office is open Monday – Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.
Future Dates to Remember:
- November 2 – Account holds placed for Outstanding Balances
- November 19 – First E-Mocs Statement for Spring 2026
- December 11 – Fee Payment Deadline for Spring 2026
- December 15 – Class cancellation for non-payment for Spring 2026
Go Mocs!

Fall Family Weekend is Almost Here!
We can’t wait to welcome families back to campus for Fall Family Weekend! Mark your calendars and start planning your visit by checking out the schedule at a glance at utc.edu/ffw. Registration will open soon, so be on the lookout for details in the coming weeks. We look forward to seeing you and your Moc for a fun-filled weekend on campus!
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) on campus works with our disabled students to remove barriers to access on campus. Our office determines reasonable accommodations for the classroom, housing, programs, and more. We also host a handful of events throughout the academic year. If you have a student with a disability attending UTC, please remind them of this resource. They can connect with us anytime during their time at UTC through our website utc.edu/drc, via email at drc@utc.edu, by phone at 423-425-4006 or dropping by our office in UC352. We look forward to serving your student!

2026 Academic Calendar Changes
Spring semester begins January 12, 2026. That is one week later than our typical start. The shift is made possible by a calendar change that begins in Fall semester 2026 when fall semester begins on the 4th Monday in August. The change brings a few benefits including time for students to complete last minute tasks before classes begin, time for students to rest and prepare between fall and spring semesters, and time for staff to support students’ return to campus and strong start each semester (housing, financial aid, advising, etc.) This also brings our calendar into alignment with most other public colleges and universities in Tennessee. Academic calendars are published on the Registrar’s website.

Off-Campus Experience
The start of the school year brings with it much excitement, nervousness, and questions, lots of questions. For those living off-campus, the Off-Campus Student Services (OCSS) office exists to help students navigate this journey. This September our office will host webinars, workshops, and drop-in tabling events aimed at helping students be good neighbors and roommates, get/stay involved in campus life, understand all of the supports and resources UTC has to offer, and handle any bumps in the road once the honeymoon period ends. The OCSS website (www.utc.edu/ocss) is full of information, resources, and an events calendar.
OCSS is also focused on helping parents understand and navigate the off-campus world. First, we are calling any current parents of off-campus students who wish to serve on the inaugural Off-Campus Parent Advisory Board. This group meets roughly once a quarter to give input to the office initiatives, help with webinars, and improve resources for parents. Second, mark your calendars for the first webinar on Sept 17 that fully introduces the Off-Campus Student Services office as well as provides some helpful tips about being a successful off-campus student, with some time at the end for Q&A. Lastly, this year’s Fall Off-Campus Housing Fair will be on October 17 from 5pm-8pm on Oak Street, during Parents’ Weekend.
We look forward to another great year at UTC!

Residential Tutoring
Housing and Residence Life will again offer FREE Residential Tutoring this fall, with a few more course options and later hours. The schedule will be posted this month on our Instagram/Facebook: @utchousing.
Please encourage your students to contact their RA or RD with any questions or concerns—they are there to help. If your student has a maintenance issue, have them fill out a maintenance request in Manage My Housing. If it is an emergency, have them contact their complex office or RA On Call. Please also have them check out the Housing Student Handbook that contains information on how to live in our residence halls.
