Veteran Student Services in the Office of the Dean of Students would like to show appreciation for veterans during this year’s Veterans Appreciation Week. Below you will find a list of events that you can attend. Please review them and we hope to see you at some of them!

Green Zone Ally Appreciation Lunch
Tuesday, November 10 in Crossroads Dining Hall from 12:30 – 2:30pm
We would like to show our appreciation to the dedicated and supportive faculty and staff of UTC that has completed our Green Zone Training. Join me and your student veterans for good food and great fellowship. Come anytime for as long as you can–make sure to sign the guest roster at the register.
Veteran Bridge Flag Ceremony
Wednesday, November 11 at 10 am in the Sculpture Garden at Bluffview (Art District–North side of bridge)
The city of Chattanooga will continue its tradition of honoring our Veterans by raising American flags across Veterans Bridge in the name of those who have served–Last spring a flag was raised and has flown over Veterans Bridge honoring the Veteran Students of UTC–On Veterans Day, that flag will be lowered and presented to UTC Veteran Services to be retired at UTC. On this day, the city of Chattanooga will permanently raise 5 American flags in honor of the four Marines and one Sailor who lost their lives in our city on July 16. The flags will permanently fly over the bridge in their honor and plaques will be installed on each flag pole so their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Join us for this celebration.
Chancellor’s Veterans Day Luncheon – Honoring the Veterans of UTC
Wednesday, November 11th in the UC Chattanooga Room from 12 – 1:30pm
Women in the Military Appreciation Day
Thursday, November 12th in the Lupton Library Portico from 11am – 1pm
Meet some of the woman on our campus who served in our military and enjoy their presentation of the history of women in the military. We will have an all female color guard to present the national colors at 12 noon and the National Anthem will be performed by Dr.Gretchen Potts.
SVO SGT Stephens Scholarship Race
Saturday, November 14th at Finley Stadium, 8:30 race registration 9:00am Race start.
Your Student Veterans Org his hosting the 4th annual Sgt David “Alex” Stephens Memorial Race to benefit UTC student veterans. Sgt. Stephens is a 2002 UTC graduate, who made the ultimate sacrifice and was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan. This year it is a Cammo Run (camouflage clothing and face paint). Come out and support this noble cause. After the race, stay for the pre-game festivities

UTC Military Appreciation Day Football Game (Chattanooga vs. The Citadel)
Saturday, November 14th at Finley Stadium, 2pm kickoff
All Veterans will be admitted free, to include up to 8 free Gen. admission tickets for immediate family members who are in attendance–There will be a Veteran ticket booth outside the Pavilion near the box office to receive your free veteran GA tickets. This is the last home game for the MOCS as they host The Citadel. This game could be the conference championship game and the 3rd consecutive championship for our MOCS. Do not miss all the fun!
