Dear Colleagues,
With the transition from IRIS to DASH, a new system for disclosing Conflicts of Interest (COI) has also been launched: DASH COI within the DASH Research platform. The DASH COI module reflects a significant improvement over the previous disclosure process in IRIS, and the DASH COI module will integrate with other DASH Research modules as they go-live. The UT System has mandated that all UT personnel named on proposals have a COI disclosure in the DASH COI module prior to submitting a proposal, regardless of the previous disclosure status in IRIS.
For consistency and to optimize the benefits of the system’s integration, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) and Office of Research Integrity (ORI) will require that researchers have an active Conflict of Interest disclosure in the DASH COI module for proposals, awards, and contracts. If you are named in a proposal or receive an award/contract, ORSP will “trigger” you to go into the DASH COI module and either update or certify that your COI disclosure is accurate and complete. You will not have to re-enter your COI disclosure each time – only to review and update / certify it. With the new process, investigators will certify that their COI disclosure is accurate for each proposal and award, but it will be an easier and faster process. This new process will enable UTC to be compliant with enhanced federal requirements for COI disclosures and UT system policy.
Additional resources:
- Explore the quick guides within the DASH COI module: Log into DASH, select the DASH Research platform, select the COI tab, select the Help Center tab.
- Utilize quick guides available on ORI’s Research Conflict of Interest webpage: Completing your UT COI Disclosure, Completing your Supervisor Review, and Basic Navigation and Filtering.
- Visit ORI’s Research Conflict of Interest webpage or ORSP’s Help Guide for Researchers Webpage
- Contact ORI (Cheryl-Murphy@utc.edu) with any questions you may have about DASH COI.
Please do not hesitate to contact ORI or ORSP staff if you have questions or concerns about this requirement. To support UTC staff in submitting disclosures, ORI is holding DASH COI live trainings on February 7 @ 1:00 and February 13 @ 11:00. If you have questions while filling out your disclosure, attend DASH COI Office Hours on January 28 from 10:00-11:00 or February 24 from 12:00-1:00. Details with links and locations will be distributed over the coming week. In the meantime, please reference the resource/help links included above.
While COI review/certification will be triggered for each proposal and award, you may also proactively update your DASH COI disclosure at your convenience or request pre-approval for an activity. To update your disclosure without a triggering event or submit a Pre-Approval Request, log into DASH, select the DASH Research platform, select the COI tab, search for your disclosure, and edit as needed.
Kindest regards,
