Dr. Jennifer Hogg (Health & Human Performance) has received $13,789 from Trazer, Inc. for the project entitled, “Reliability & Validity of Trazer XP.”
Dr. Priscilla Simms-Roberson (School of Nursing) has received $4,000 from CVS Health for the project entitled, “2023-2024 CVS Health Foundation FNP/PA Scholarship.”

The following UTC faculty and staff members submitted proposals for the potential to generate over $1,009,122 in external funding, if awarded:
Dr. Nagwan Zahry (Communications) and Dr. Chan Phuong (Computer Science and Engineering) have requested $20,000 from the University of Tennessee Research Foundation for the project entitled, “FoodConnect: A student centered healthy eating app.”
Dr. Mina Sartipi (UTC Research Institute) and Austin Harris (CUIP) in collaboration with the city of Chattanooga have requested $322,222 from the US Department of Transportation for the project entitled, “A Nationally Scalable C-V2X Pilot Deployment: Advancing Interoperable Connectivity for Improving Safety and Operations in the City of Chattanooga.”
Dr. Mina Sartipi (UTC Research Institute), Austin Harris (CUIP), and Dr. Tianya Zhang (UTC Research Institute) have requested $100,000 from the Office of the Secretary for the project entitled, “AI-Enhanced Intersection Safety Framework: Protecting Vehicles and Vulnerable Road Users.”
Dr. Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering) and engineering student Joshua Tyler have requested $10,526 from the University of Tennessee Research Foundation for the project entitled, “Advanced Waveform Resampling.”
Dr. Khalid Tantawi (Engineering Management and Technology) and Dr. Francesca Leasi (Biology, Geology and Environmental Science) in collaboration with Motlow State Community College, have requested $149,999 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Development of an Electric Vehicle Engineering Technology Program for the Middle Tennessee Region.”
Dr. Gokhan Erdemir, Dr. Erkan Kaplanoglu (Engineering Management and Technology), Dr Yu Liang, Dr. Hong Qin (Computer Science and Engineering), Dr. Khalid Tantawi, Dr. Serkan Varol (Engineering Management and Technology), and Dr. Mengjun Xie (Computer Science and Engineering), have requested $369,429 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “REU Site: Undergraduate Robotics Research in Cybersecurity on Heterogeneous Mobile Robotic Systems (CHMRS).”
Dr. Robert Truan (Music) has requested $5,000 from the Tennessee Arts Commission for the project entitled, “Jerry Tachoir Musical Performance.”
Dr. Jill Shelton (Psychology) in collaboration with Florida State University has requested $22,054 from the Mental Research Institute for the project entitled, “The role of self and others in the internalization of disability identity: Toward a model of well-being and resilience.”
Dr. Azad Hossain (Biology, Geology and Environmental Science) has requested $9,892 from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency for the project entitled, “Web GIS for Urban Stream Project.”
