At the end of the Fall 2018 semester, students from sections 0 and 03 of Writing and Research in History showcased the posters they created for the class. The course was designed to help students learn to evaluate primary and secondary materials and use those sources to develop and answer research questions. Students in the class were required to complete a historical research paper on a topic of their choice. In addition, they created posters depicting the major points of their research project. Students then presented these posters during two conference-like sessions, attended by faculty and staff from the Department of History and others.

Breanna Tillman researched activism and reform efforts by Chattanoogans during the Civil Rights Movement.
Frank Brogden’s project focused on the integration of the University of Chattanooga basketball team and the role sports played in race relations at the institution.
Allison Hagar researched the role masculinity played in Germans’ decisions to rescue or hide Jews during the Holocaust.
Jason Benson’s poster focused on the Salem witch trials.
