CALL FOR PAPERS AND POSTERS
UTC’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta (PAT) invites proposals on all subjects of history or related disciplines from undergraduate students in colleges and universities from Southeast Tennessee. You do not need to be a member of PAT to participate.
Your proposal should include your name, project title, and abstract of no more than 250 words.
For papers: You should plan for a 15-20-minute oral presentation (about 8-10 pages, double-spaced).
For posters: Your poster must be sized to one of the following size dimensions: 24 by 36 inches OR 36 by 48 inches. Posters will be affixed to a foam board. Current UTC students can print their posters through UTC Print and Mail Center and paid for by the UTC Department of History with prior approval.

Dr. Beth Leahy from the Writing and Communication Center will give a workshop on a few best practices for organizing/presenting your papers and talk about the importance of coming up with a good “elevator pitch” for when you network at any academic conference. This workshop will include hands-on activities where you will look at a few examples and then try to come up with your own elevator pitches
