UTC History students on why they love history.
I love how history can reveal aspects of the world that were never before known. History is like showing a movie in my head. I love to learn it because even little obscure facts tell an amazing story.
– Maurille Smith II
I like to imagine history as a living observation. Many events happened in the past, but history is made in the present. We cannot only piece together the events of the past, but also see the course of history that these events (and much more!) take.
– Diego Rojas
History tells a story. That story is about us and the human experience. Like a story there is so much that can be looked at and analyzed, and there is always another perspective to look at. I love history because it is our story and new chapters are always being written and old chapters are always being discovered.
– Stephen A. Thomas
History is always challenging me to look at the bigger picture and draw connections.
– Mikaela Brook Forrester
History always has mysteries waiting to be solved, people waiting to be discovered, and stories waiting to be uncovered. As a historian, I find it fascinating that it is my job to be able to keep history alive by telling the facts about the events that once happened and the people who once lived. I love that there are always new things to learn in history. I often find myself wondering what certain places’ or peoples’ pasts are, which can be answered by researching the history behind them. History will never stop expanding, which makes it truly timeless.
– Katelyn Cook
Being able to look into someone’s past and see what life for them was like 200 years ago has always been interesting to me.
