Join us for a book presentation for Dr. Mark Johnson’s new monograph, American Bacon: The History of a Food Phenomenon!
On Monday, April 6, at 4:00PM in the Honors College’s Guerry Reading Room, our own Dr. Mark Johnson will present his newest book, American Bacon: The History of a Food Phenomenon (out now from University of Georgia Press–available here!). This book launch event will feature a brief reading from the book, a conversation moderated by Dr. Emma McDonell (UTC Anthropology), an audience Q&A, and a reception with refreshments, including a cake and items from local butcher Main Street Meats. Vegan, halal, and kosher options will also be available.
This event was made possible with the generous support of the UTC History Department, the Africana Studies Program, the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Geography, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Honors College, the Division of Access & Engagement, the Walker Center for Teaching and Learning, and the UTC Library.
Join us and learn all about the complex and delicious history of one of the most ubiquitous meats in the United States!
