Dr. Kira Robison on Medical Oddities in History
As part of the Pre-Health advising workshop series “Periodic Ponderings,” students were invited into the world of anatomical history as Dr. Robison gave a talk on the varied ways that human gross anatomy has been taught in the past through seemingly macabre anatomical collections. This presentation concentrates on the justifications for anatomical knowledge in the pre-modern world, as well as the ways in which students and physicians in Europe managed to create pedagogical opportunities in the spaces between cadaver dissections from the 14th to the 18th centuries. Recording posted with a selected list of museum websites for further exploration in the description.
