On April 6, Dr. Mark Johnson presented his new book, American Bacon: The History of a Food Phenomenon, with Dr. Emma McDonell moderating.
With support from the History Department, the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Geography, the UTC Honors College, and other partners on and off campus, we celebrated the publication of American Bacon: The History of a Food Phenomenon.
Students, colleagues, staff, and community members attended and heard selected readings from Dr. Johnson, alongside guided questions from Dr. McDonell. The attendees were then able to participate in an open Q-and-A related to the book’s themes and questions.
Following a lively back-and-forth discussion, there was a great reception with catered food from Main Street Meats and University Pizza and Deli. And, most importantly, book cake!
Congratulations, again, to Dr. Johnson; thanks to Dr. McDonell and Dr. Michael Samuel (History) for all their hard work planning the event, and thanks to everyone who attended!
