Throughout the year, students work alongside community partners around Chattanooga and surrounding areas. These projects can last anywhere from a semester to a full year. One project that we want to showcase is the work that was done with White Oak Bicycle Co-Op with a program called “Every Child Deserves a Bicycle”. Three 2nd Year MPH Students (Tyron Arnett, Victoria Norwood and Jessica Pierce) and one Master in Psychology student (Raiza Barahona), were able to provide recommendations and design a community-based program that will be implemented in the spring of 2023 during the annual Red Bank Jubilee so that children and youth have access to a bicycle in the Chattanooga region and promote physical activity. The students were able to speak with stakeholders to determine what the needs are, areas of improvement and ensure information and resources are available for the community. We cannot wait to see how this event goes in the Spring!
