“MPI Research at the Center for Understandable Performance – Exascale Communication Systems (CUP-ECS)”
Dr. Tony Skjellum, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
Abstract:
CUP-ECS is an NNSA-funded R&D Center at the University of New Mexico, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and University of Alabama. The Center has been in progress for about year as of SC’21.
In this talk, two key activities of the CUP-ECS Center are discussed:
- The MPI Advance Project, which provides up-and-coming API extensions to MPI to try out and explore years ahead of availability in the standard
- The ExaMPI Research implementation of MPI, which is a strong progress, modern C++ implementation of a subset of MPI-4, designed to support many applications, and enable efficient R&D with low entry cost for new MPI studies
Examples of on-going work, results, applications, and student projects are discussed. Ways to collaborate with the CUP-ECS team and leverage our growing family of open-source research prototypes is mentioned.
