Providing Health Education at the Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinic

MPH students facilitated health education sessions to hundreds of patients that attended the Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinic in Camp Jordan, Tennessee on November 16th & 17th. The two-day event brought together nearly 400 volunteers to serve the needs of 931 patients seeking free medical, dental, and vision care. MPH Students Represent Nationally at APHA

Three MPH second-year students presented their research at the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting November 2-6, 2019 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The research presentations included: Mckenzie Gregg: physical activity prescription and referral in pediatric clinics, Kim Reid: chronic disease prevention training in medical education, and Emma Sampson: physical activity training in nursing programs. MPH-RDN Track Progress

UTC is currently seeking accreditation for a new program to prepare Registered Dietitian Nutritionists in Fall, 2021. The proposed program will be a track within the current Master of Public Health Program. Students are encouraged to obtain a baccalaureate degree, complete required pre-requisite courses, take the GRE, and acquire experiences in the public health or dietetics fields. Public Health Events

Our program is looking forward to wrapping up Public Health Week, finishing the spring semester strong, as well as celebrating the first graduating MPH cohort – the 2020 Pioneers! National Public Health Week (NPHW) was April 6-12, 2020. The UTC Public Health Student Association (PHSA)  partnered with the UTC Healthy Mocs for a #MocsMakeMeals Challenge. The challenge invited the entire UTC community to share a healthy recipe tutorial on
