Welcome to the 2026–27 academic year! We are excited to welcome both new and returning families to the UTC community. For those joining us for the first time, welcome to the Mocs family! We look forward to partnering with you throughout the year as your student thrives at UTC.
As the semester gets underway, encourage your student to get involved on campus by attending events, joining student organizations, and finding opportunities to build community. MocSync is a great resource for discovering programs, organizations, and events happening across campus.
We also hope you’ll join us for Fall Family Weekend, September 18-20, 2026! Fall Family Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to visit campus, spend time with your student, experience UTC traditions, and connect with other Mocs families. Registration is required, and families are encouraged to register early. Visit the UTC Parent and Family Association for registration information, the weekend schedule, and additional details.
The start of the semester is also a great time for students to establish healthy routines, stay organized, and develop strong habits that support their academic and personal success. We also encourage families to become familiar with the many resources available on campus so you can help connect your student with the right support if and when they need it. Our UTC Family Guide is a great place to start and refer back to when needed!

Welcome to an exciting new semester at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga! The Fall 2026 semester officially began on Monday, August 24, and we are thrilled to welcome 11,829 students to campus. Overall, the Fall 2026 fee payment process was successful. While some students were cancelled due to non-payment, the Bursar’s Office made every effort to keep students informed by providing multiple messages and notices regarding the cancellation date.
Stay Connected and Check Email Regularly
As we move into the semester, please encourage your son or daughter to check their UTC email regularly. Important information about payments, refunds, deadlines, and other student account matters will be communicated through email.
The first Fall 2026 refunds will be processed on September 2. If your student is eligible for a refund, we hope they selected ACH/Direct Deposit through their MyMocsNet account. ACH is a secure, convenient option and the fastest way to receive a refund. If Direct Deposit has not yet been established, we strongly encourage students to set it up through their MyMocsNet account. Students who receive a paper check should be aware that checks are mailed to the permanent address on file and may take 5–10+ days to arrive through USPS.
Tuition Installment Payment Plan Reminder
If your student is enrolled in the Tuition Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) for the Fall semester, the second payment was due September 1. Please remember that a $50 late fee is applied on the 4th of the month if the scheduled payment is not received.

Housing Information
Fall 2026 Housing
Already tired of the commute? We currently have limited spaces available for Fall 2026-Spring 2027! Students can apply through Manage My Housing.
Spring Housing
The Spring 2027 housing application opens October 1. Housing applications for 2027-2028 will open later this fall. Students can apply through Manage My Housing.
Residential Tutoring
Housing and Residence Life will offer FREE Residential Tutoring this fall. The schedule will be posted in September on our Instagram/Facebook: @utchousing.
Housing Concerns
Please encourage your students to contact their RA or RD with any questions or concerns—they are there to help. If your student has a maintenance issue, have them fill out a maintenance request in Manage My Housing. If it is an emergency, have them contact their complex office or RA On Call. Please also have them check out the Housing Student Handbook that contains information on how to live in our residence halls.
Save the Date for Mocs Give Day
Mark your calendar for October 6 as UTC celebrates the 7th annual Mocs Give Day. This 24-hour online giving challenge brings alumni, families, friends, faculty, staff and students together to support current and future Mocs.

Make game-day even more memorable this fall with UTC Alumni Tailgates. Legacy Scholarships Support Generations of Mocs
UTC’s Traditions Across Generations (TAG) Legacy Scholarship and Jimmy Jackson Memorial Scholarship help support students who are continuing a family tradition at UTC. Together, these scholarships provide support from freshman through senior year, strengthening connections across generations while helping students succeed throughout their college journey. The Center for Student Accessibility
The CFSA is a resource for UTC students who need disability-related accommodations. Accommodations can look different in college than they did in high school. For one, the process is student led in college. This means the student must make the connection to request accommodations, attend the meeting, and discuss their impacts and barriers with one of our staff members. If your student had an IEP, 504, or have any disability-related barriers that might require accommodations, please remind them of this resource. Also, not all accommodations translate one to one. High school is guided by different laws than college. We do our best to connect students to available resources on campus in areas where we are unable to provide accommodations. Supplemental Instruction in the Center for Academic Support and Advisement
One of the many joys of being in college is finding “your people”. As parents and guardians, we want our students to find friends who will resonate with all that’s unique about our children. We want them to manage this new challenge of college with others, not alone, especially academic challenges. When students surround themselves with others who want to achieve motivation, attention, and sense of belonging increases. That is why we offer SI at UTC.
Supplemental Instruction (SI), guided study groups, is a free academic support program at UTC led by peers to enrich learning experience in historically difficult courses. Our office is in the Center for Academic Support and Advisement.
Supplemental Instruction is an internationally recognized, evidence-backed model that aims to help students succeed through weekly peer-led SI study groups. SI study groups are interactive, engaging, and fun, creating a comfortable environment to explore and practice course material.
SI Leaders, the study group facilitators, are placed in the course with the students all semester. Being embedded in the course means they know what is covered in lecture, they collaborate with the faculty member to cover the most important content, and they get what the students are going through. The SI Leaders have taken the course already and are placed in the course again to be an affective leader.
SI Leaders are trained in:
- Active learning principles and practices
- Group -oriented study methods
- Clear Communication
- Active listening and responding
- Time and Classroom Management
- Effective group and individual study skills
- Referring students to UTC resources
You can find a list of SI supported courses each semester on our website starting on the second week of the semester. If your student is enrolled in these courses, they will be invited to SI study groups each week. Encourage them to study with friends who will bring out the best in them! SI is a great place to build these strong habits. Research indicates that in general students who attend SI Sessions regularly earn one-half to whole grade letter higher than students who do not attend at all.
