UTC Parents and Families,
As we reach the midpoint of the semester, students are preparing for midterm exams and looking forward to spring break. Midterms are often a time for students to gain a clear picture of where they stand academically. There are many academic resources on campus that can support your student’s academic journey, including the Writing Center, Math Plaza, Center for Academic Support and Advisement, and Disability Resource Center. Advising plays a large role in helping your students plan for their future at UTC, remind your student to schedule their advising appointment for this semester soon!
We recognize that this season can bring pressure. Encouragement from home continues to make a powerful difference. A quick text, a call, or a simple reminder that you’re proud of their effort, not just their grades, can help with motivation during this busy stretch. Beyond the classroom, spring activities are in full swing, offering meaningful opportunities for leadership, service, connection, and some fun!
One way you can connect with your student and the UTC campus is by attending our annual Spring Family Day on March 28th. To register, see the information below. As always, thank you for partnering with us to support you students!

Registration is now open for Spring Family Day 2026!
We are excited to invite families back to Chattanooga for Spring Family Day on March 28, 2026. Registration now open! View the schedule for the day and registration information at the link below. All wishing to attend this event must be registered.

Due to ongoing mail delays, we strongly encourage students to enroll in ACH/Direct Deposit for refunds through their MyMocsNet account. This secure option provides the fastest access to your funds. Paper refund checks are mailed to the permanent address on file and may take 5–10 or more days to arrive via USPS.
If you need assistance setting up direct deposit, please visit www.utc.edu/bursar, select the “Video Instructions” tab in the center of the page, and watch the video titled “Bursar Series: Direct Deposit.”
For students enrolled in the Tuition Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) for the Spring semester, the third payment was due March 1, and the final payment is due April 1. A $50 late fee is assessed on the 4th of the month if a scheduled payment is not received. Please be aware that outstanding balances may impact future course registration. Accounts with unpaid balances will have a hold placed on April 2.
The 1098-T tax form is now available in each student’s MyMocsNet account. Students should retain this document for tax filing purposes.

Off-Campus Journey
The Off-Campus Housing Fair was once again a huge success…even with the power outage on campus. With over 60 different properties represented at the Fair in addition to the numerous on-campus partners, students were able to gather great information and leads for their off-campus journey.
If your student missed the event, don’t fret…there are plenty of opportunities and resources (and time) for students to get off-campus housing. The website is a great first place to go to find roommates and/or apartments from our property partners (utc.edu/ocss). There is also a webinar (open to parents too) that helps everyone understand the off-campus housing process, options, and resources. This month’s webinar is on March 11 at 1pm. Here is the Webinar Link or you may find the event here. In addition, Off-Campus Student Services will be hosting many events, including tabling and roommate finder events later this month and next. Check out our Events Page for more information.
Any questions, please reach out to [email protected].

Measles is highly contagious—even more so than COVID-19. To ensure campus is healthy, it is vital that your student knows their immune status by verifying their vaccination records or laboratory proof of immunity.
UTC reports that 98% of students on campus have immunity, which serves as a strong shield for the community. Having immunity significantly reduces the chances of getting measles and keeps you from needing to be quarantined for up to 21 days if you are exposed.
Take action today:
- Check your status: Log in to the UTC Medicat Patient Portal to review your records.
- Need a blood titer? If you do not have documentation of immunity through vaccination, call UTC Health Services at 423-425-2266 to schedule a blood test.
- Feeling sick? Do not walk into the clinic. Call first to help protect others.
