The following UTC Faculty and Staff have attracted $98,395 in external grant and contract awards:
Ms. Sandra Cole (Center for Community Career Education) has received $14,962 from the City of Chattanooga for the project entitled, “College Knowledge, Now! (CK, Now!) 2018-19.”
Dr. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) has received $15,000 from the City of Chattanooga for the project entitled, “MLK Jr. Boulevard Corridor Mobility Test Bed.”
Dr. Henry Spratt (Biology, Geology & Environmental Science) has received $5,116 from the LUBING Systems, LP for the project entitled, “The Growth of Bacterial Biofilms on Components of Lubing System Water Distribution Systems Used for Poultry.”
Drs. Mark Stoutenberg and Gregory Heath (Health & Human Performance) have received $9,915 from the Tennessee Department of Health for the project entitled, “UTC Physical Activity Training Workshop: Linking Primary Care with Community Action.”
Dr. Li Yang (Computer Science & Engineering) has received $53,402 from Prairie View A&M University for the project entitled, “Developing Innovative Privacy Learning Modules to Engage Students in Cybersecurity Education.”

The following UTC faculty and staff members submitted proposals for the potential to generate over $530,647 in external funding, if awarded:
Dr. Pamela Guess (School Psychology) has requested an additional $151,200 from the Tennessee Department of Education for the project entitled, “School Psychology Intern Program.”
Drs. June Hanks and David Levine (Physical Therapy) and Dr. Henry Spratt (Biology, Geology & Environmental Science) have requested $2,506 from the Tennessee Physical Therapy Association for the project entitled, “Environmental contamination in a Long-Term Acute Care Facility and recommendations for disinfection protocols.”
Dr. Bradley Harris (Chemical Engineering) and Dr. Charles Margraves (Mechanical Engineering) have requested $74,875 from Ginko LLC for the project entitled, “SBIR Phase I: Compact Waste-to-Energy Machine by Pyrolysis and Gasification of Organic Waste.”
Ms. Linda Hinkle (Office of the Dean of Students) has requested $2,499 from the Daughters of the American Revolution for the project entitled, “UTC Veterans Student Services Lounge Project.”
Drs. Eleni Panagiotou and Jin Wang (Mathematics) have requested $299,567 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Computational methods for measuring topological entanglement in polymers.”
