Dr. Victor Bumphus (Social, Cultural & Justice Studies) has received $33,000 from the International Association of Chiefs of Police for the project entitled, “Service, Support & Justice: A Strategy to Enhance Law Enforcement Response to Victims Technical Assistance.”
Dr. Hill Craddock (Biology, Geology & Environmental Science) has received $5,230 from The American Chestnut Foundation for the project entitled, “Conservation and Collection of Castanea dentata Germplasm in the South.”
Dr. Eric Hungenberg (Health & Human Performance) has received $25,709 from Triple Crown Sports for the project entitled, “Service Quality Analysis and Economic Impact Research Projects.”
Drs. Kidambi Sreenivas, James Newman (Mechanical Engineering), and Dr. Craig Tanis (Computer Science & Engineering) have received $60,244 for computational research efforts.

Dr. Jennifer Boyd (Biology, Geology & Environmental Science) has requested a supplemental grant of $7,666 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “RUI: Collaborative Research: Reasons for Rarity? Exploring Acclimatory and Adaptive Constraints to Commonness.”
Dr. Lucien Ellington and Mr. Jeffrey Melnik (Asia Program) have requested $83,597 from the Association for Asian Studies, Inc. for the project entitled, “Education About Asia Journal 2019.”
Drs. David Giles, Francesca Leasi, Margaret Kovach, Henry Spratt (Biology, Geology & Environmental Science), Drs. Han Jung Park, Jisook Kim, Wang Yong Yang, Titus Albu (Chemistry & Physics), and Dr. Ethan Carver (Vice Chancellor for Research) have requested $217,630 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “MRI: Acquisition of an All-in-One Fluorescence Microscope for Research, Training, and Teaching.”
Drs. Katharine Kemplin & Jenny Holcombe (School of Nursing) have requested $152,014 from the Department of Defense for the project entitled, “UMED Defib.”
Drs. Yu Liang, Dalei Wu (Computer Science & Engineering), Dr. Zibin Guo (Social, Cultural & Justice Studies), Dr. Nancy Fell (Physical Therapy), Dr. Amanda Clark (Psychology), and Dr. Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) have requested $981,634 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “SCH: INT: RUI: VIGOR – A Virtual, Individualized and Generative Orchestrator for Rehabilitation.”
Drs. T. Daniel Loveless & Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering) have requested $199,771 from the Office of Naval Research for the project entitled, “Fault-Tolerant Design Through Ionizing Radiation Effects Spectroscopy and Intelligent Control.”
Ms. Laurie Melnik, Angela Dittmar, Dr. Joel Baxley (Southeast Center for Education in the Arts), and Ms. Rachel Fleming (Library) have requested $10,000 from the Tennessee Arts Commission for the project entitled, “Arts Learning Lab: Project REAL (Rural Educators for Arts Learning).”
Dr. Soubantika Palchoudhury (Civil & Chemical Engineering) and Dr. Abdollah Arabshahi (SimCenter) have requested $311,732 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Coupled Computational and Experimental Approach to Understand the Flow of Nanodrugs.”
Dr. Eleni Panagiotou (Mathematics) has requested $5,000 from Oak Ridge Associated Universities for the project entitled, “ORAU POWE: A study of the effects of polymer entanglement and polymer architecture on material properties.”
Dr. Jared Pienkos (Chemistry & Physics) has requested $5,000 from the Oak Ridge Associated Universities for the project entitled, “Redox-Active Rare-Earth Binding Agents.”
Drs. Amber Roache, Priscilla Simms-Roberson, and Jenny Holcombe (School of Nursing) have requested $2,729,974 from the Health Resources and Services Administration for the project entitled, “ANEW – Clinical-Academic Network for Developing Leaders (CANDL).”
Dr. Mina Sartipi (CUIP), Dr. Chandra Ward (Social, Cultural & Justice Studies), Dr. Reinhold Mann (Vice Chancellor for Research), Dr. Kidambi Sreenivas (Mechanical Engineering), and Dr. Bento Lobo (Finance & Economics) have submitted a preliminary proposal through the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “NSF Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Connected Infrastructures in Sustainable Urban Environments (CONNECT).”
Dr. Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) has requested $287,945 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CICI: RDP: Contracts and Distributed Ledgers to Enforce Research Data Compliance.”
