Funding Opportunities
Please notify ORSP by September 15 if you are interested in applying to one of the following opportunities:
- NSF has released an updated solicitation for the Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases (EEID) program. Projects must take a broad, interdisciplinary approach to infectious disease transmission dynamics. Eligibility limitations apply. Review the full solicitation here for more details. Proposals are due November 15, 2023.
- NSF has released a new program entitled EMpowering BRoader Academic Capacity and Education (EMBRACE). The program solicits proposals from faculty in GEO-related disciplines at non-R1 institutions (like UTC) to initiate research/education programs and collect preliminary data (Seed proposals) or to establish independent GEO-related research programs (Growth proposals). An individual may participate as PI or Co-PI on no more than two proposals per competition. The full solicitation is available here. Proposals may be submitted to two target dates: November 20, 2023 or May 15, 2024.
ORSP is accepting Notices of Intent for two limited submission programs:

UTC is limited to 2 preliminary proposals in response to this solicitation. Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Gift vs Grant
Gifts (including bequests) are monies or property given voluntarily, without expectation of return or compensation on the part of the donor. Grants, on the other hand, are monies or property awarded to the University with terms and conditions for the use of the funds/property. All grants must route through the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Review the Determination Matrix for assistance in determining whether your funding is a grant or a gift.
Best,
Ashley Ledford,
