Announcements
- ORSP will be closed on Monday, September 4, in observance of Labor Day. We look forward to responding to your emails when we return on Tuesday, September 5.
- To support research commercialization efforts at UTC, this semester the Rollins College of Business is providing student consultants to help UTC faculty with commercialization marketing and business development. If you are interested in learning more, please complete this form.
- On September 20, the UTC Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be hosting a talk with Dr. Kusum Rathore, the Vice President for the UT Research Foundation (UTRF). Dr. Rathore’s talk will focus on how UTC faculty can take advantage of UTRF’s services for research translation and commercialization. The talk will be held in Mapp Building Room 212 from 10:30am – 12:00pm. Register to attend here.
- On September 21-22, UTC will be hosting a UT-wide colloquium for Research Administration personnel. Please note that ORSP and ORI will be working intermittently during the event so our response times may be delayed.
- Friday, October 20, 2023 will be the last day that the NSF fillable PDF format for the biosketch and current and pending support can be uploaded and submitted in research.gov. For proposals due October 21, 2023 or after, investigators must use SciENcv to prepare the biosketch and CPS forms. Having trouble getting set up in SciENcv? Funding Opportunities
- The UTC Research Institute is accepting proposals for a new CEACSE program: FY24-25 Planning and Capacity Building for Collaborative Teams (PACCT). The RFP is available here. Applications are due in InfoReady Review by October 23, 2023. Click here to preview the application requirements and apply. - NSF is accepting another round of core research proposals to the Human Networks and Data Science program. The full solicitation is available here. PO approval is required to submit to this program as the primary unit. Submissions are due January 11, 2024.
- NSF has issued a new DCL entitled “Fostering Harassment-Free STEM Education, Research, and Workplace Environments”. Research projects focused on sexual and other forms of harassment in STEM environments and/or anti-harassment efforts in STEM are encouraged. Interested PIs should contact the cognizant PO most closely matching their discipline from the list available here. Submission deadlines vary by program.
REMINDER – ORSP is accepting Notices of Intent for two limited submission programs:
- FY24 NEA Grants for Arts Projects – Read more about the program here. UTC is limited to 1 proposal per year. If you are interested in being considered for selection for the 2024 competition, you must submit an NOI via InfoReady by no later than Friday, September 8. Click here to review the requirements and submit an NOI.
- NSF AI Research Institutes – Institutes must advance foundational AI research, conduct use-inspired research, incorporate multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to workforce development. Focus themes are Astronomical Sciences (FY24), Discovery in Materials Research (FY25), and Strengthening AI (FY25). Read more about the program here. UTC is limited to 2 preliminary proposals in response to this solicitation. Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: FI0205 – Sponsored Projects
Sponsored Projects Policy FI0205 lays out the general policies for defining what a sponsored project is, the responsibilities and obligations of each key unit, and what the grant process should look like. Curious to know the difference between a “grant” and “contract” and why only authorized personnel can sign them? It’s all in this policy!
