Announcements
- ORSP will have limited staff availability on Wednesday, November 22 and will be closed November 23-24. We wish everyone a lovely Thanksgiving break and look forward to reconnecting with you when we return to the office on Monday, November 27.
- The FY23 Annual Sponsored Projects Report is now available on ORSP’s webpage here. In FY23, UTC received more than $14 million in external funding and submitted grant proposals worth more than $57 million. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for making FY23 an impactful year of research and community-engaged programming.
- The Fall 2023 NSF Virtual Grants Conference will be held December 4 – 7, 2023. The conference sessions will be most beneficial to investigators who are new to NSF and those who are interested in learning more about the Directorates and their research priorities. - The National Endowment for the Humanities seeks scholars, cultural institution leaders, humanities center staff, and other experts to serve as peer reviewers. Learn more about the application review process here. Click here to register as a reviewer.
- The Air Force Research Laboratory has released their 2023 Basic Research Art of Science Showcase, featuring nearly 200 artistic renderings of AFRL-funded research projects.

If you are interested in applying to any of the opportunities below, please notify ORSP at least 4-6 weeks in advance of the deadline. A minimum of five (5) business days’ advanced notice is required. More information about ORSP’s proposal development timeline and services is available here.

NSF Designing Synthetic Cells Beyond the Bounds of Evolution (Designer Cells) | February 1, 2024 | Only 5-7 awards will be made. Research projects with only an incremental impact will not be competitive. |
NSF International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) | February 5, 2024 | Additional deadline October 28, 2024. Individuals may participate as PI or co-PI on no more than ONE (1) proposal per competition. All PIs, Co-PIs and Senior Personnel on IRES proposals must be from U.S. based organizations. Foreign collaborators cannot be listed as PIs, Co-PIs or Senior Personnel. |
NSF Incorporating Human Behavior in Epidemiological Models (IHBEM) | February 14, 2024 | Individuals may participate as PI or co-PI on no more than ONE (1) proposal per year. |
DoD Fiscal Year 2025 Defense University Research Instrumentation Program | February 16, 2024 | Inquiries and questions must be submitted by Friday, January 19, 2024. DURIP funds must be used for the acquisition of major equipment or instrumentation to support research in the technical areas of interest to the DoD. UTC is not limited on the number applications that can be submitted. |
NIH Research Enhancement Awards (R15) | February 25, 2024 | The PI cannot have an active NIH research award. Additional deadlines June 25 and October 25. |
Air Force Office of Scientific Research Broad Agency Announcement | No deadline | White paper and pre-submission correspondence requirements vary by research area. |
