Announcements
- The Gary W. Rollins College of Business and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research has launched the Harris Chair Innovation Mini-Grant Program, a new opportunity for all faculty and staff at UTC to support innovative ideas and solutions. Applicants must have the intention to pursue commercialization of their work through licensing or entrepreneurship. Proposals for funding up to $5,000 will be considered. - NIH is hosting a Grants Policy Update webinar from 1pm – 2:30pm on January 31. Click here to learn more and register.
- The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities is accepting applications from early-stage investigators to participate in the Health Disparities Research Institute (HDRI). Visit the HDRI webpage to learn more about the program, eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and how to apply. Applications are due by March 11, 2024.
- The National Science Foundation has released the new PAPPG, effective May 20, 2024. A summary of the changes is available here. Look for additional information and resources from ORSP in the coming months.

Proposals with fewer than 5 business days notice may face barriers to submission. More information about ORSP’s proposal development timeline and services is available here.

DOE Exploratory Research for Extreme Scale Science | Pre-App: February 29, 2024 | A pre-application is required and must address one of 5 specific research topics. An individual is limited to one submission as the PI. UTC is limited to a total of 5 pre-applications as the lead applicant. Slots will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. If encouraged, the full proposal will be due by May 2, 2024. |
NEA Research Grants in the Arts | March 25, 2024 | A program for arts-related research. Proposals must align with at least one of the priority topics identified in the program description. A 1:1 cost share is required. |
NSF Responsible Design, Development, and Deployment of Technologies (ReDDDoT) | Planning: April 8, 2024Project: April 22, 2024 | The project leadership team should include individuals with experience and expertise in topics and areas broadly associated with responsible design, development, and/or deployment of technologies. Other restrictions vary by track. |
NEH Fellowships | April 10, 2024 | An award to individuals to produce humanities-focused manuscripts or scholarly resources. The individual applies directly to NEH. A webinar will be held on February 14; register here. |
NSF Future Manufacturing | April 11, 2024 | An investigator may participate in no more than one proposal in each track per year. PIs must have a full-time research or teaching appointment with an institution of higher education. |
NSF Growing Convergence Research (GCR) | April 12, 2024 | A PI/Co-PI may participate in no more than one CGR proposal/award at a time. |
NSF DCL: Leveraging Innovations From Evolution (LIFE) | Anytime | Must apply to one of the programs listed in the Dear Colleague Letter. |
NSF DCL: Neurobiology in Changing Ecosystems (NiCE) | Anytime | Must apply to one of the programs listed in the Dear Colleague Letter. |
Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: UT Code of Conduct
UT’s code of conduct is intended to assist employees and their departments in creating a responsible and ethical workplace. It outlines the basic expectations for employees, directs them to policy requirements and training resources and provides instructions for reporting concerns and violations. PIs are expected to apply this policy to the management of their grant proposals and sponsored projects.
