- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program – The deadline ranges by discipline, from October 15-18, 2024. View the solicitation and application resources here.

Limited Submission Competitions
The following programs have a limited submission requirement. If you are interested in the program, you must submit by the internal deadline to be eligible for selection.

All senior personnel must have a tenured or tenure-track position or a full-time research or teaching appointment at a US-based institution of higher education. |
NSF Engineering Research Initiation | October 9, 2024 | At the time of the proposal submission deadline, the PI may not have been a PI or Co-PI on any current or prior awarded NSF research grant (including subaward) or have had research support from any other Federal Agency (within the United States or abroad) totaling $200,000 or more within the past five (5) calendar years. See solicitation for a list of exceptions. |
NSF PFE: Research Initiation in Engineering Formation | November 10, 2024 | At least one PI/co-PI must be a member of an engineering department AND not have received engineering education or professional formation funding through EEC in the last three years. Additional PI considerations apply; see solicitation for more details. |
NSF DCL: NAIRR Pilot Expansion: Researcher Training, Community Outreach, and Classroom Education | December 15, 2024 | Only specific proposal and supplemental request types are solicited; see solicitation for more details. Concept outline submission and approval are required prior to submitting a full proposal or supplemental request. |
NEA Translation Project Fellowships | January 16, 2025 | Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents. The individual applies directly to NEA. |
NSF Research on the Science and Technology Enterprise: Indicators, Statistics, and Methods (NCSES S&T) | January 21, 2025 | Only 5-10 awards expected. NO PI limitations for standard research proposals. |
Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Cost Transfers
Sponsored Projects Policy FI0220 lays out the policies and procedures that ensure the timely allocation of charges to or cost transfers from sponsored project accounts. See Appendix 1 for guidance on the timing for charging graduate research assistant tuition and fee waivers.
